Postcard from Ravenna

On the same flat lands as Venice and Milan, Ravenna was the Western most capital of the Byzantine era, and remains a mecca for admirers of mosaics—such as myself. I hit town last week, jumped on a complimentary bike from the hotel, and set off in the rain to San Vitale, my current most favouritest building.

The riding style in Ravenna favours flat tires. Rust, squeaks and dilapidation further add to the camouflage effect sought by Italians generally in their artful selection of bikes. This is a town where ones status is inversely proportionate to the shitiness of their ride. Elora! Italian style at its best.
